This story begins in the late 80s and early 90s when a young Lotta Giornofelice was working as a climbing and off piste skiing instructor and guide. She shared her time between Åre, Chamonix, La Grave, Kebnekaise and other places around the world in pursuit for the best skiing spots and climbing routes.
During a climb on Pyramide du Tacul in Chamonix, Lotta and her crew found themselves in an exposed and dangerous situation. Somebody called out “Save me Houdini” to summon the powers of the famous escape artist. If it was the spirit of Houdini that helped them off the mountain that time remains unknown but the saying became an instant classic and a given name for Lotta’s new clothing brand.
Now, over 25 years later, Lotta is still a part owner of Houdini, but she is no longer a part of the daily operations.
Houdini was founded because I needed clothes that didn’t exist, Lotta remembers. I am very proud of what I did achieve and to see how Houdini is evolving. Especially for the sustainability work that lies at the heart of everything that Houdini does. ❤️♻️

Items are classified as faulty if they are received damaged, or where a manufacturing fault occurs within 12 month of purchase. Please note that items that are damaged as a result of wear and tear are not considered to be faulty. Faulty items will be exchanged to the same type of product in the same size, subject to availability. If the product is not in stock you will get your money back. Our design philosophy is about providing you with products that last. Products that, by their quality, style and functionality, simply don’t need to be replaced.
This is why we offer a product lifetime warranty. Every part of a Houdini product is designed to last its entire lifetime. Should any part fail at an earlier stage, we will repair or replace it. If you happen to damage a Houdini product, we are happy to provide the same repair service at a reasonable price.
The idea is to extend product lifetime in every way possible and to make sure your Houdini companion travels with you for as long as possible. Once your product eventually wears out, please remember to hand it in so that we can recycle it into another great Houdini product!
Promotions and sale prices are based on regular prices and cannot be combined with other discounts or Reuse products.
