Who are you? And what is WhatIF Foods?
We want to make you pause and think… about nutrition, health, the way food is produced, it’s impact on our planet and more. And that is exactly how the team started the journey towards WhatIF Foods – by asking “What if we changed the way the food system works - category by category?” You can expect zero compromises from us and our food products. We do not compromise on the quality of our ingredients, taste, nutritional value, your health, or impact on our planet…and this is just the beginning!
We believe that sustaining the status quo is no longer enough! We stand for disruptive ideas and are not just another plant-based brand, or a trendy vegan product, let alone a high-tech dream. We, at WhatIF Foods, made it to our mission to reinvent the food industry category by category. We are the first food company that is founded on regenerative principles – we were born this way, it is our DNA!
We make nutritious and regenerative foods. Foods that replenish the nutrients we need throughout our busy days. We use crops that regenerate land that was left behind and we work with farming communities directly - we reconnect. We believe in circular values because well-being is interdependent – we need nature in cities, life in food, and purpose in communities.

Where does the name WhatIF Foods come from?
Our story began with a question...the question served as a reminder to always assess the status quo. What if... the status quo is no longer enough? We are looking at the way the industry produces food and are on a mission to change it one category at a time. And so, we asked ourselves: What if...?
First, it was: "What if... we could find a way to make instant noodles, shakes, soups and plant based milk healthy?" Then, the question became: "What if... what we consume is healthy and good for the planet?" That is still not good enough. We asked ourselves again: "What if... every product we manufacture could do all of these things, and support farming communities?"
At every step of our journey, asking ourselves what if has led us to a better vision of what the future of food could be. And so, by asking what if at every corner, not only are our instant noodles today healthier for you, they are also good for the planet, and they support farming communities.
And it wouldn’t be the last time we ask ourselves this question. Asking "what if" ensures that we will always evaluate where we are, only to create a better vision of where we can be.
Where are you from?
WhatIF Foods is a truly global company! Our team consists of numerous nationalities, including Singaporean, Austrian, French, Australian, Chinese, Malaysian, Indian and more. Our headquarters are in Singapore, our factory is in Malaysia, our Bambara groundnuts are from Ghana and our spices from all over the world.

Are your products plant-based, vegetarian, vegan friendly?
Yes, yes and yes - they are. Our products are tested on willing humans and do not contain any animal-derived ingredients.
Are WhatIF Foods products gluten-free?
While our BamNut Milk and all of our shakes and soups are gluten-free, please be advised that our noods are not and contain wheat.

Are there any allergens I need to be aware of?
Some of our products contain known allergens, such as gluten and nuts. We advise you to review the allergen section of each product, online or in person, carefully before consumption.
If you have a specific allergy that is outside of the information provided, please contact us directly and we will do our best to guide you on which products are suitable.

Are WhatIF Foods products organic?
The tricky part with this question is that there are too many definitions of organic products that result in confusion and lack of clarity. We can assure you that WhatIF Foods products do not contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs) or ingredients produced from GMOs. We select and use natural ingredients to bring out the best tastes and goodies to complement the regenerative crops that go into our products. All the nasties are left out – MSG, artificial colours, artificial sweeteners, preservatives, palm oil.
What is BamNut aka Bambara Groundnut?
BamNut is short for Bambara Groundnut. It is a protein rich legume grown in West Africa regions, but also grown in South-East Asia such as Indonesia and Malaysia. Its name in Indonesia and Malaysia are Kacang Bogor and Kacang Poi. Check our introduction post on BamNut!
Do you use fertilizers to grow BamNut?
No! BamNut grows well on non-arable land so it does not require any fertilizers. In fact it adds nitrogen back into the ground to regenerate the land!
Do any of the WhatIF Foods products contain palm oil?
Quite simple and straightforward - no! None of our WhatIF products contain any palm oil.
How should I store my WhatIF products?
Please reseal tightly and store them in a cool and dry place, away from sunlight so they stay fresh and at their best for as long as possible.
How long can I keep my products for?
Firstly, compliments on your will power :-)! Typically, a WhatIF product can be stored for around 6-12 months. But please check the “best before” date on the packaging. You will typically find a sticker on the bottom of our boxes.
Are WhatIF products Halal certified?
All our WhatIF products are made in a facility that is Halal Certified by JAKIM and free of meat and alcohol. We are constantly adding new products to our Halal certificate. The products that have already been Halal Certified will have the Halal message displayed on their respective product pages. If you want to check on the status of a product you are interested in, but cannot see the message yet, please let the team know and we can give you an update.
Is the packaging recyclable?
Great question! Packaging is an interesting one...especially in the food industry where it not only has to serve wrapping but also safety purposes. In all honesty, packaging has been on our minds and challenging us right from the get go and we are always looking for better, more planet friendly materials. The ongoing pandemic is not making it easy as supply chains are challenging. Our packaging has been sourced in an environmentally-friendly, socially responsible, and economically viable manner where we can while staying affordable to our customers.
Most of this impact on our planet is determined by packaging materials and how those materials are produced - and because recycling capabilities vary so much from region to region – we’ve decided to prioritize renewable packaging as much as possible. Our ultimate goal is to use only fully recyclable packaging that’s also made from fully recycled or renewable materials. In the meantime, we’re working with our packaging suppliers to get as close to 100% renewable and recyclable packaging as we can.
Did you know that most packaging which has a “paper look & feel” is usually coated with a clear plastic film? We are happy to say that all of our hexagonal boxes do not have that coating and can be fully recycled as cardboard.
BamNut Milk
General Questions
What is so good about this milk?
BamNut Milk is significantly more regenerative than all other plant milks. It is a rich source of protein and essential amino acids. One serving (240ml) provides 50%, 20% and 25% RDA of Calcium, Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D2 respectively.
How does BamNut Milk taste?
BamNut Milk is milky, creamy and nutty. Can’t imagine it? Try and taste it for yourself!
Why are there particles in BamNut Milk?
Most of the nut milks undergo a process of separation in which there is a residue containing fibre. (e.g. okara from soy bean milk). For our BamNut Milk we use the entire nut, leaving no waste in the process. That is also one of the reasons why it is also the most sustainable of all of the plant milks!
What are the different ways to consume & use BamNut Milk?

Nutritional Questions
How much protein is in BamNut Milk?
BamNut Milk has more protein per cup than oat, almond and coconut milk combined! To be precise, 5g per serving (serving size: 1 cup of 240ml)
How much Calcium is in BamNut Milk?
1 cup of milk contains 480mg Calcium per serving compared to 300mg in 1 cup of cow’s milk.
Why have you fortified BamNut Milk with calcium and vitamins D2 & B12?
BamNut Milk can be made without fortifications, but we wanted to offer you an alternative to cow milk where you don’t have to compromise on your nutritional needs.
Calcium is good for your bones and teeth. Vitamin D2 is needed for the absorption of calcium and is essential for your skin, intestines, kidneys and bones. Finally, vitamin B12 is necessary to maintain a healthy nervous system but it is hard to find it in non-animal products, therefore it has been added to BamNut Milk to prevent consumers who are on a plant-based diet from having a vitamin B12 deficiency.
Is there added sugar in this milk?
No - but that needs a bit of explanation! Even though you might see that our label says that there is “added sugar” in our BamNut Milk (unfortunately, different countries ask for different labels and regulations), we do not add any sugar to our plant-based milk. We break down the starch in the BamNut to release simple sugars, similar to how our body breaks down nutrients in ingested food into simple sugars that can be absorbed by the digestive system.
Is BamNut Milk dairy-free, lactose-free, soy-free, gluten-free , palm oil free and vegan-friendly?
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes!

Does BamNut Milk contain allergens?
Bambara groundnut is a legume related to peanuts. It is not advised for those with peanut allergies. BamNut Milk is made in a factory that also handles milk and tree nuts.

How should I store BamNut Milk?
Store the unopened pack in a cool, dry place. Once open, keep refrigerated and use within 5 days.
BamNut Milk vs. ordinary dairy milk vs. other plant based milks
How is BamNut Milk different from dairy milk?
BamNut Milk is 100% plant-based and yet foams/froths like dairy milk. We do not add emulsifiers or stabilizers to create the microbubbles. BamNut proteins do the work! Also perfect for your milkshake!
How is BamNut Milk different from other plant based milk?
BamNut Milk uses Bambara groundnuts as a base, therefore, each cup of Milk consumed helps to restore degraded lands which would otherwise be left abandoned. Our no waste process retains the full nutrient benefits of BamNut, especially fibers which are good for your gut health!
Why is there regeneration in every cup of BamNut Milk?
Our milk uses BamNuts as a base, therefore, each cup of milk consumed helps to restore degraded lands which would otherwise be left abandoned. Additionally, we have assessed the climate footprint of our BamNut Milk with the help of Carbon Cloud: 0.46kg CO2e per kg of milk are emitted, which is 4.1 times lower than cow milk sold in Singapore! We don’t rest on our laurels though, because we know the process can still be improved, so we are still working on reducing our footprint as much as possible!
WhatIF Noodles
What’s the difference between WhatIF Noodles and other instant noodles?
There are quite a few things that make WhatIF Noods different from conventional instant noodles. We use the regenerative crop Bambara groundnut as one of the main ingredients in all of our noodle flavours which instantly makes WhatIF noodles high in protein and higher in fiber. They are 100% plan(e)t-based and contain 35-55% less fat compared to market benchmark instant noodles because we are using a patented technology that doesn’t require the noodles to be deep fried in oil.
Our Noods do not contain any MSG, artificial colours, preservatives or palm oil.
WhatIF Shakes & Soups
What if the main ingredient in WhatIF Shakes and Soups?
The common ingredient for all of our WhatIF Soups and Shakes is the regenerative crop Bambara groundnut. This powerful legume ensures that our soups and shakes are high in protein and higher in dietary fiber.
What are the nutritional benefits of WhatIF Shakes?
Our Ube, Apple Cinnamon and BamNut Shake are high in protein. They are 100% plan(e)t-based, using only natural ingredients. They are low in fat and have up to 50% less sugar than conventional shakes.
Furthermore, they are free of cholesterol, trans-fats and preservatives.
Each portion (30g) is only about 100 kcal and hence the perfect snack in between meals or whenever you need a quick pick-me-up.
What are the nutritional benefits of WhatIF Soups?
Our Tomato and Sweet Corn Soups are high in protein. They are 100% plan(e)t-based, using only natural ingredients. They are low in fat and contain up to to 75% less sodium than comparable soups.
Furthermore, they are free of cholesterol, trans-fats and preservatives.
Each portion (30g) is only about 100 kcal and hence the perfect snack in between meals or whenever you need a quick pick-me-up.

Can I cancel or make changes to my order?
As soon as you place your order, we’re on it – we know you want it fast! This means that once your order has been placed, it will be extremely difficult for us to cancel or edit it. Please contact us as soon as you can with your request and our team will try our best to accommodate.
Where is my order?
Within a few days of receiving a payment confirmation notice, our dispatch partner will send you a dispatch notice with a tracking number
How long will it take for my order to arrive after payment?
Please check in on our delivery policy for the latest information. We will do our best to deliver your goods as quickly as possible.
Where do you deliver to?
We are currently delivering in Singapore and to Malaysia. However, WhatIF Foods working on delivering to as many countries as possible. Wherever you are in the world that we do not deliver to currently, just give our team a shout and we will do our best to find a way to you – even if means we have to use a messenger pigeon!
What about customs charges?
Unfortunately, we are unable to advise what customs charges may be applied to international shipments. Any customs charges are applied at the discretion of the carrier and local laws. All customs charges will be payable by the customer and will not be covered by WhatIF Foods. For more accurate information, we’d suggest getting in touch with your local customs office so you are not surprised by any unexpected charges.
What do I do if I receive the wrong item, incomplete or damaged?
We're sorry to hear that you've received an incorrect or faulty item. We will get this fixed for you as quickly as we can. Please drop us a message with the following info:

- Product name & code (this can be found on your order confirmation email)
- Picture of the faulty / incorrect item
My product seems to have expired based on the date stated on my sticker?
Our products are currently labelled for expiry in a DD/MM/YY format as they are manufactured in Asia, where this is the standard format. We are planning on switching to a MM/DD/YY format, do bear with us and if you have any doubts, please feel free to write us!
Shipping
Singapore Shipping times
All of our orders are dispatched normally within 1 working day of order confirmation and normally delivered to Singapore addresses within 3-5 working days.
Malaysia Shipping times
All of our orders are dispatched normally within 1 working day of order confirmation. Expected delivery times are:
- West Malaysia addresses: within 1-3 working days
- East Malaysia addresses: within 3-5 working days.
US Shipping times
All orders received before 12 noon Eastern Time are dispatched the same day. Within the next day, you should receive a notification from our last mile delivery partner who will keep you updated with your tracking number and tracking details. We can’t wait for you to receive your package!
