EARTH DAY 🌎

Earth is our home and we all have a responsibility to keep our home clean and in order. So, what is Earth Day? Earth day is the perfect time to reassess our resources and find equally responsible ways to appreciate our planet. The 22nd of April marks its annual 52nd anniversary, dedicating and raising important awareness about the environmental hardships that our beautiful planet sadly has to deal with… We as united people around the globe can put a much more conscious effort to preserve our amazing planet and we really need to act fast and start respecting our earth. So now, who’s up for joining this mission with us?

'INVEST IN OUR PLANET' is the name for this year’s 2022 theme for Earth Day. Climate change is not only our greatest threat to humanity but also threatens to harm our beautiful environment, diverse wildlife, and eco-systems. Some may just see this day as a fun excuse to flaunt the colour green and put on a daisy flower crown. But, realistically, this day is a key moment to tackle ongoing issues we currently face, once and for all and shed light. Hopefully, this day encourages government corporations and humans to take concrete steps in the right direction to make sustainable choices 🌱.

Awareness and knowledge is an essential part of Earth Day. As a cohort of humans across the globe, we must all unite together with like minded and passionate people that can contribute to a better future for us all as mother earth is the source of life and regeneration. Why not give back and say thank you? As some people name it, a ‘green future is a prosperous future’. This sounds pretty promising to us… 😍

In fairness, many of us around the globe are putting our shift in on Earth Day. Apparently, 1 billion people in 193 countries around the whole globe celebrate this day. This brings us a great deal of hope, but we are still eagerly hoping that more people bring awareness to this issue and celebrate our neglected planet by starting to make conscious, eco-friendly choices, like buying products that will save our future generations.

So, when did this day first begin? Well, Gaylord Nelson is a bit of an icon in the sustainable or aka ‘green’ community. This US senator and environmentalist founded this day all the way back in 1970. Over 50 years ago! His focus was on the importance of clean, non-polluted air likely clogging up our airways, and clean water which hasn’t been intoxicated with dirty rubbish and plastic (Emily Chan, 2022). Because of him, 20 million US citizens took to the streets helping to tackle this issue. Without this eco-friendly legend, who knows what would have happened…

This is where Cerqular plays an integrative and important role with high values, conscious products and ethical brands. We are the largest and fastest growing sustainable ecosystem and help sustainable brands reach conscious and like minded people.

Oftentimes, it’s the smallest of efforts we do every day that add up to noticeable and positive changes for our environment. So, whether it’s just a stroll in the park, picking up litter from the floor or opting for some more sustainably conscious products, we're giving you a few ways on how you can care and respect our planet, and give back.

  1. PLANT A TREE. We love and respect our amazing trees across the globe. If you didn’t know, trees have many awesome benefits such as reducing carbon, reducing the spread of disease, and also benefiting agriculture.  So why not opt for some cute little seedlings and plant some trees in your local area this Earth Day. 🌳

  2. STOP DRINKING BOTTLED WATER.  You all need to stop drinking out of plastic bottles which are responsible for so much bad pollution and environmental damage. Why not go for a more sustainable water bottle, like RIND SNACKS which has some gorgeous steel water bottles in funky colours. Trust me, you shouldn’t miss out on one of these…

 3. SWITCH YOUR ENERGY BILLS TO E-BILLS. E-bills are a much easier way of viewing and paying your bills online from an electronic device, at the comfort of your cosy home. So why not opt for an easier, more practical solution? This also saves so much unnecessary paper rubbish through your mailbox…

4. UPDATE YOUR LIGHT BULBS. Good news is that energy saving bulbs can rapidly reduce carbon emissions. Check out MPOWERD who supply sustainable LED Lights which have many mobile charging capabilities. These would be amazing under your canopy, bringing the stunning atmosphere to light at summer BBQs with close family and friends.

                                 LUCI SOLAR STRING LIGHTS $49.99

 5.  VOLUNTEER TO PICK UP SOME RUBBISH.  Just go for a stroll with a trash bag and clean up any rubbish you can find or see. You can even get the kids involved. But please I urge you! You can’t forget to recycle afterwards… KEEP NATURE WILD is a wonderful brand as they play their part in the community.

6. HAVE A RECYCLING PARTY. Gather friends and family around at yours and throw a fun, boozy, and waste-free party. Opt for some reusable cups, plates, napkins, and utensils. But don’t worry, I’ll give you a helping hand. BAGITO has some awesome reusable bamboo-made utensils so definitely check them out. Make sure that any of your left-over food scraps are composted or give to a neighbor or friend. If your feeling confident, you could give a speech about the amazing benefits of recycling to your friends and educate them about the serious issue at hand.

7. EAT GREEN.  American citizens consume too much meat. So, cutting down or even a few times a week would be amazing to reduce the negative outcomes of meat production from intense factory farming. Try eating your local home-grown delicious vegetables, fruits and make some fancy, yummy and mouth-watering dishes.

8. BUY ECO-FRIENDLY PRODUCTS. Lucky for you, we have multiple brands for you to select from ranging from recyclable, upcycled and vegan friendly. Maybe Earth Day could be a day for you to explore the inventive products out there.
